Overview
Welcome to Little AfghanistanKabul, the capital of Afghanistan, is one of the oldest cities in the world. It is also one of the most beautiful, innocent, and different capitals you will find anywhere. It is located in a long narrow valley between the Hindu Kush Mountains. This valley is mentioned in the Rigveda and Avesta books written about 5000 years before Christ and describes it as an ideal region where an image of heaven is embodied in its mountains. In the Hindu Mahabharata book, Kabul was a heaven and a place of meditation for the good Gods and it has been preserved in Sanskrit as Ardhestane or a holy place of worship.
Due to continuous wars, the old city of Kabul was built in the form of narrow and crooked alleys so that if a foreigner enters it he will lose his way and be arrested. The houses are generally built on one floor and are made of clay or mud with a wooden roof. Above the gate, only one room has been built which is used as a guest house. The gates and windows are made of wood and decorated with beautiful carvings. The construction of colorful bazaars and the city center was also done traditionally.
Now, after many years and many wars, part of the city has been developed into a modern urban development, but much of the city and its houses still remain in their original and beautiful state. Kabul cannot be visited without tasting its most famous dish, Kabuli Pulao.
